We are looking for someone to join our team!
If you’re outgoing, love speaking to new people and enjoy visiting new places, this could be the perfect role for you!
The Yorkshire Kitchen is looking for a confident and reliable person to set up and run our stands at food festivals, agricultural shows and other events. Most events take place at weekends across Yorkshire and the surrounding counties, although travel further afield may be required, as well as midweek work, particularly in the run-up to Christmas.
What you’ll be doing
You will be responsible for representing The Yorkshire Kitchen at events, including:
- Travelling to food festivals and other events
- Setting up our stand, which may be a gazebo or a table within a marquee
- Welcoming customers and telling them about our products
- Offering samples and suggesting ways customers can use our butters
- Selling products and taking card or cash payments
- Keeping the stand clean, organised and well stocked
- Monitoring stock and sales
- Packing down the stand at the end of the event
Set-up and breakdown usually take place on the first and final trading days of an event. Some events run over several days and may involve overnight stays or camping.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Fun, friendly and confident
- Comfortable approaching and speaking to new people
- Engaging and enthusiastic about the products they are selling
- Reliable, organised and able to work independently
- Comfortable working long event days and being on their feet
- Willing to help transport and move stock and equipment
- Available for regular weekend work
You don’t need to be a food expert when you start—we will provide full product, sales and food-safety training. Once trained, however, we’ll expect you to become knowledgeable about our products and confident explaining them to customers.
As a small business, everyone representing us is a brand ambassador. We’re looking for someone who will give customers the best possible impression of The Yorkshire Kitchen.
What we offer
In return, we offer:
- A base wage plus competitive sales commission for strong performance
- Plenty of opportunities for additional hours
- The opportunity to grow with a fast-developing business
- Full training and all the equipment needed to get started
- Opportunities for overnight stays and camping at some of the country’s most beautiful locations
- A varied, sociable and enjoyable working environment
Transport requirements
You will need:
- A full driving licence
- Your own reliable vehicle
- Enough space to carry stock and event equipment, including a folded gazebo
The equipment will fit into most reasonably sized cars. Details of mileage and travel expenses will be discussed as part of the recruitment process.
